Your Money and Retail MLM Companies, A Catch 22
I’ve spent many hours researching retail network companies. The number of MLM companies selling health & wellness products alone is staggering. Many of these companies include popular names such as HerbaLife, LifePlus, Youngevity and others. The majority of these require new associates/distributors to lay out your money right from the start. Whether as a startup fee or product pack, the principle is the same. It's your money they want first.
I have a big problem with this.
You see, anytime you have to pay them money just to start you are at an immediate disadvantage.
For instance, HerbaLife requires new distributors to quickly decide at what level they are willing to buy into. The required purchase of product increase exponentially with each new level. The only way to increase your earning ratio is to shell out a lot of your own money. The HerbaLife Success Builder level requires a single product purchase order of almost $600 ($500 plus tax and shipping costs). At this level, distributors receive a 42%discount on their product orders.
Let's stop here and think this through….
You’ve now shelled out nearly $600 of your own money to buy into the 42% discount level on all your product orders. That means you now earn 42% profits whenever you sell those same products to others at retail prices, right?
However, don’t forget that until you recoup your out-of-pocket expense first, you cannot earn a profit.
Taking one step further… you will first have to sell approximately $1400 worth of product to others before you break even and recoup your expenses. For some this is not difficult at all. But for most others, especially those just starting out, it will be overwhelming.
Who does this benefit? The retailer for sure and your upline too.
Network marketing plans like these benefit only a few and place most others at a disadvantage trying to always catch up.
Eventually, it will benefit you but only if you never spend a dime on more product purchases. The second you do, you will place yourself further behind the eight ball.
Herbalife, LifePlus, Max International and others are among the most popular in the nutrition and wellness industry. Therefore, there must be huge numbers of people who buy into this kind of network marketing all the time. Is it any surprise that most of them eventually drop out, discouraged, disappointed and with far less money in their wallets. Quite often, it’s these same poor souls who swear to never give network marketing a try ever again.
This is completely unnecessary.
As a friend of mine once put it, “network marketing is the last frontier of the American marketing system.” A good plan that is designed with everyone in mind, will allow ordinary people to achieve extraordinary results by placing them all on the same level playing field.
